The Manchester Enterprise Centre is running a half day (10.00-12.00) training session for research students and staff in Facilitation Skills on December 1st. One aim of this day is to provide researchers with a professional development opportunity, but it will also be used to recruit facilitators for MEC’s “Interdisciplinary Sustainable Development” UG Unit and “Skills for Sustainability and Social Responsibility” PG Unit in Semester 2 (3rd February – 13th May 2010).
Each team facilitator for these courses is paid an honorarium of £400 for participating in 12 sessions over one Semester. Each session is 2-3 hours (Wednesday mornings or Thursday afternoons) and members of staff must be available for every session, as each is dedicated to one student team.
Those wishing to be employed as team facilitators in these problem based learning course units will be observed facilitating a mock team during the afternoon of 1st December, and then any selected will receive further training next January before the start of the course units. Post Docs from any discipline are eligible. No prior knowledge of sustainable development is required.
Further details will follow, but if you’re interested in attending the course and getting some facilitation experience (as well as some cold, hard cash), keep December 1st free. If you have further questions, please contact Helen Dobson at: Helen.Dobson@manchester.ac.uk
