If you missed the first ‘Research Staff: Perspectives, opportunities and support at the University of Manchester’ event on Feb 3rd, you have another chance to hear about the support that the University offers to its research staff on May 12th (12.00-14.00, the Council Chamber, Whitworth Building). The workshop brings together a range of speakers from projects, units and services which contribute towards the support and development of researchers, including Research Computing Services, University of Manchester Intellectual Property, Human Resources, Vitae and Careers. You’ll also hear from an established academic who will outline the support that you ought to expect from your PI, and from a current member of research staff who will fill you in on the sources of support they have found useful (as well as how they’re working to develop their career). This is also a great opportunity to meet research staff from other faculties and share your own experiences. We’ll even throw in lunch.
Although this workshop is primarily intended for people who are new to either a research post or to Manchester, anyone is free to come along. Just sign up via the Training Calendar at: http://tiny.cc/b1FPJ
Researchers who attended the last session had been in post from 1 month to 4 years, but all found the session to be either very useful or quite useful.
