methods@manchester: Deputy Director
There is funding available to cover salary costs for 20% time of an academic post (up to the top of SL) for the year starting August 2010. The post will provide methods@manchester with a deputy director to support developments for PGRs and researchers. This will involve:
a. Liaison with the Universities of Lancaster and Liverpool to help set up MethodsNorthWest – an extension of methods@manchester that will include all three universities.
b. Instigating annual one-day workshops run by some of the major ESRC resources (Longitudinal Household Panel study and BSPS; the British cohort studies; the Economic and Social Data Service; the Census Programme) and running sessions to publicise the Manchester based resources, eg the Economics and Social Data Service.
c. Responding to additional training needs of PhD students, particularly with respect to ethics, but also in other areas of expressed need; liaising with the Faculty Skills Training team.
d. Liaising with the Faculty Skills and Training team led by Ann Barlow.
methods@manchester is directed by Professor Angela Dale and, from October 1st Professor Tarani Chandola will become a co-Director. Administrative support is provided by Gillian Meadows and Veronica Smith and web development by Sam Smith, all based in CCSR.
