Applications are sought for a Research Associate in Social Statistics. The person appointed will be expected to contribute to two separate but related activities within the discipline of Social Statistics and the Cathie Marsh Centre for Census and Survey Research, spending roughly equal amounts of time on each. The role will involve providing research assistance on an ESRC project (e-STAT) funded by ESRC under the National Centre for e-Social Science (NCeSS). The role will also involve being part of the Economic and Social Data Service team at CCSR, responsible for promoting teaching and research using the large scale government surveys.

Applicants should have a strong background and qualifications in social statistics or quantitative social research methods, a good knowledge of at least one cross-sectional government survey (e.g. the Labour Force Survey) and at least one longitudinal study (e.g. the UK birth cohort studies) and should also be familiar with at least one of the major statistical packages (e.g. STATA).

Tenable from 1st January 2011 to 30th September 2011 at full-time OR 1st January 2011 to 31st December 2011 at 80% FTE


£28,983 per annum (pro-rata as appropriate)
